Outreach

Bringing the Library to our Community

Outreach Services are Services for Library Patrons with Special Needs. Outreach Services offer:

Audio players for the blind. These players and accessories are provided through the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson at no charge to qualified patrons. MLC also offers accessories such as: Tone Arm Clip, Headphones, Extension Levers, Solar-panel battery chargers, and Pillowphones. Breath Switches are available for severely physically disabled readers who have little or no use of their extremities.

These services are postage-free. All equipment and materials are sent directly to the patron’s home with return mailing labels. There is a wide variety of talking books available: westerns, novels, non-fiction, romance, foreign language, mystery, and even magazines on tape.

For questions, comments, and/or inquiries about our services, please contact Gen Thompson at g.thompson@harrison.lib.ms.us or by calling the Harrison County Library System at (228) 539-0110.
